About Mr Lam

Mr Fook Chang Lam graduated in medicine among the top of his class with honours and several prizes from the University of Glasgow. He subsequently completed a 2-year Medical Rotation where he obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians prior to begining training in ophthalmology.

He undertook formal Basic Specialist Training and Higher Specialist Training in Ophthalmology in Glasgow, rotating through the teaching hospitals on the West of Scotland Ophthalmology Rotation.

He subseqently embarked on an Anterior Segment Fellowship at Sussex Eye Hospital in Brighton specialising in artificial corneas, a Glaucoma Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and a Cornea and a Keratorefractive Surgery Fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. In 2013, after winning a scholarship from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, he completed a further Fellowship in Advanced Corneal Surgery and Eye Banking at the Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery in Rotterdam. Many of the latest techniques used in modern corneal surgery, including Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty and Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty were invented at the Netherlands Institute for Innovative Surgery.

Mr Lam’s extensive superspecialist training and surgical experience allows him to provide you with the full range of treatment options using the latest surgical techniques and technological advances, and treatment options that are personalised to suit your needs. His particular clinical interests are safe cataract surgery with advanced techniques and lenses, eye surface problems, corneal transplantation using the latest modern techniques, and glaucoma treatments.

Through the years, Mr Lam has won a number of prizes and awards for his research work and he continues to be actively involved in research while regularly presenting his work at international conferences.
